European Towshow News Update 16th June 2006
Last few weeks before the off!. Around this time all the pieces of the jig saw start to fit together. Before we forget for those off you who have asked for the TIC postcode for the dreaded sat-nav system, it is TF3 4JH.
The European tow show was born out off a Remsa initiative and continues to be the all industry event of the year, to that end all Trade bodies from the industry have been invited, we are delighted to inform you that AVRO, IVR, REMSA , and last but not least the RHA Rescue and Recovery group, all have taken and booked exhibition stands at the event. The RMIF & LARO will also be attending in an official capacity and LARO has provided a flag for the external flag display outside the main hotel. With all this support the show has indeed become a very effective shop window for industry, it is absolutely amazing who actually comes to have a look through that window, not only from the UK and Europe but world wide as well!
The number of overseas visitors has increased quite considerably during 2005, we had attendees from Bermuda, America, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, UAE, Cyprus, Canada, Malta, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Ireland and last but not least a party of 24 Finnish operators who flew over especially on Friday to visit the show.
On display will be the finest and in some cases the most expensive bits of kit available to the rescue and recovery, there will also be a vast array of additional ancillary suppliers accompanied by all the major motor organisations.

The Tow Inn, another first and another huge success, this provided a focal point not only during the day but for pre dinner drinks also. Thanks to all who were involved in the design and construction, great job! Breaking news, I hear tell that there will be an additional facility this year, the Tow Bar, watch this space!
TTT, we did mention those words in the May 2005 issue, the Telford Tow Times our own daily newspaper was another winner at the show, one of our favourite pictures was taken at breakfast in the holiday inn, the restaurant was packed to the doors but all heads were down reading the Telford Tow Times, great stuff, without the magnificent support from Dave, Jamie and the reporting team from Professional Recovery this just would never have happened, thanks gang you were a bunch of true supporters look forward to working with you at Telford 2006.
Thursday as usual is the casual fun evening there will be a change of theme to an evening at the Races. We will have our own turf accountants (posh name for bookies) on site to assist helped by their glamorous assistants.
The event commences at 7.30 for 8 pm, pre dinner drinks will be served in the Tow Inn situated in the Ironbridge suite. The after dinner motivational speaker will be Bob Champion the world renowned top class jockey. There is far too much to write about this guy to bring you up to speed, for the full story click HERE
The benefiting charity for this year will be RISC
During the two and half day event there will be a huge opportunity to have a lot of fun and at the same time raise some money for our all industry charity RISC. We are led to believe that the trustees have a few new funding raising ideas up their sleeves!
Also after the buffet on Thursday there will be presentations for:
Best large internal Stand Best small internal Stand Best external Stand Best Light Truck Best Heavy Truck
Friday mid to late morning will be taken up by the very slick Rac contractor’s conference, loads of information and interactive seminars, if last year was anything to mark it by the event will well worth attending.
There should be sufficient time for all to have a chance to walk round the show in the afternoon unless of course you are one of the ladies who are going out to lunch with Nikki King OBE MD from Isuzu trucks. Nikki has very kindly laid on a coach and lunch for the ladies attending the show, why they would want to tear themselves away from the tyre kickers and truck watchers we find hard to understand but if you wish to consider this alternative event more details are available on the news section on our website
Friday even as always is the main social event of the whole event.
Pre dinner drinks will be served in the Tow Inn situated in the Ironbridge suite 7 for 7.30, yes a slightly earlier start but when you see the entertainment planned you will understand why.
The Telford International Centre management team have assures us that you will be able to charge you drinks to your room provided you have your room card and a separate means of ID.
Directly after dinner there will be the two awards of the evening, the innovation award and the tremendously prestigious personal achievement award.
These events will be followed by Mick Miller a comedian with his own special brand of humour, seems to know a lot about who is in his audience, you have been advised!
Star billing goes to the world Renowned Illusionist Shahid Malik, this guy’s show is incredible, he is putting together a finale themed around the European Tow Show, believe us this will be very interesting.
Once you have caught your breath after that, just to get you in the mood for dancing there will a performance by a professional dance team featuring jive, salsa, tango and yep you guessed it perhaps a bit of audience participation!
The evening will capped off by Zap disco featuring their sensational new light show.
Saturday is set aside as the public day which features the all industry display team, what we can say about these guys, true professionals, under the leadership of John Coupland, top man!
They will be stage an emergency services incident on Saturday at 1pm, all five emergency agencies will be participating, if last years is anything to judge this by, best be in your seat at the event well in advance.
Again Telford FM radio well cover the whole emergency services demo broadcasting live to its listeners in Shropshire; many came down to watch and commented how realistic it all looked. Thanks to resident DJ Paul Shuttleworth who carries out the commentary.
Look forward to see you there.
Kind Regards
Roy Jones & Frank Mc Allister
