European Towshow News Update 1st March 2007
This will be our fifth year, the team decided to freshen things up and have restructured the complete exhibition areas. This has meant that we have had to have a major rewrite of the exhibition map which has proved to be invaluable with the allocation of space both inside and outside the centre.
Last year we launched towshow.tv, this was a bold and challenging initiative, we intend to build and expand on that, plans are afoot to have a webcast detailing what will be happening at the show this will include both business and social events. These webcasts are scheduled to commence towards the end of March 2007.
Having said that, whilst we understand that the website is very important to us, we do however appreciate that we have to carry on with advertising these issues in the trade and national magazines along with direct emailing.
The nominated charity this year will be again be RISC, the recovery industry support charity. Do try to attend the social events particularly on the Friday when the grand industry charity fund raising event takes place, last year we raised over £17k, some of this money has already gone to members of our industry who have been less fortune than others. Andy Lambert and the RISC trustees are currently hard at work gathering together prizes for the big charity bash on the Friday evening.
We were asked recently, “What is the take up for the show like this year?”.
Well put it this way if you have not booked a room at the Holiday inn or the International hotels on site then it is too late to do so, both are fully booked.
Hot News!
I can inform you that the International Groups of hotels have now purchased another hotel close to the TIC, we have provisionally reserved all those rooms for our tow show guests. The same central booking number on our website will also take care of your booking requests for this additional hotel. The tow show team will be visiting both off the existing hotels plus the additional Grays inn and the exhibitor centre on Thursday 15th March 07 to ensure that all is going according to plan.
This will be your last chance to book accommodation close to the exhibition, book now!
The two platinum sponsors namely On Time Automotive and Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander have confirmed that they again or keen to continue their sponsorship as indeed have our gold and silver sponsors. A huge thank you to these guys with out their commitment and support these events would just not get off the ground.
The main thrust of booking from the exhibitors is well underway; the majority of last years exhibitors have now booked and have confirmed that they are attending.
We are also encouraged by the number of new exhibitor and sponsorship enquires, these along with enquiries from new customers add greatly to the overall success and continued growth of the premier industry event.
What new ideas do we envisage for June 2007?.
Daily working truck competition.
We are actively going to encourage visitors and attendees to bring their working trucks to the show. Rather than drive there in a car bring your truck, each day an independent panel of judges will decide on the best at show on the day in two categories light and heavy.
There will be a prize of £250.00 per day for each category. Currently this initiative will be sponsored by the directors of the tow show who believe that the event has something for everyone who is involved with the rescue and recovery industry.
Thursday 28th June 07
There will be yet again another industry conference on the Thursday, judging by the attendance last year where there was standing room only this will again be again oversubscribed. More comprehensive details will be released in the next press release.
Social Events: Thursday evening
As we stated earlier this will be our fifth year, we are very proud of what has been achieved in such a short period, to celebrate we think the theme for this years social events should be “Party Time!!!”
We are very pleased to announce that the Thursday evening will be that little bit extra special this year to keep in vogue with our fifth year “party time theme”. As with most great parties you need loads of people, good food, wine and a bit of hot dancing. Well they don’t come any hotter than this; we are pleased to announce that Vincent and Flavia fresh from their successful BBC come dancing series will be our star billing for the evening.
With all this blood pumping excitement we felt that rather than a buffet a full three course meal would fit the order of the day, this should set up the biggest appetite for a cracking evening.
To obtain further information on Vincent and Flavia please go to their website: www.vincentandflavia.com/gallery
Friday 29th June 2007.
Friday sees the return of the Rac Contractors conference; again they can look forward to very professional event and information exchange.
Lunch time experience for the ladies!
Last year Nikki King from Isuzu very kindly put together a ladies lunch for the Friday, that proved to be a very successful event, Nikki has stated that she will be delighted to do the same again this year. Should you wish to find out any further information drop an email to Nikki’s secretary:

Friday evening
Grand charity Dinner
In support of RISC
Last year was the first time that RISC was the nominated charity, as our own independent charity the support that was forth coming overwhelmed both the tow show team and the RISC trustees. Some £17,000 was raised during the evening, a fantastic amount of money some of which has already been given out to members of our industry who have been less fortunate than others.
We have decided to support RISC again this year, looking after your own comes to mind. We the team would be very pleased for every member of this industry to seriously consider attending this charity dinner, yes you the proprietors, the admin staff, the operational guys whoever, we really want to see you support your industry charity, you will never know when you might need it, lets hope that is never the case but……
Our commitment to this event is to ensure that the evening will be top class, full three course meal followed by a star billing.
During January we tried to secure the one and only Brian Conely, Brian is one of life’s natural nice guys for those who have seen him previously will know what a fantastic showman he is, not only a very funny comedian, musician but also is a good all round entertainer.
Negotiations have now been completed and we are happy to inform you that Brian Conely will be our star act for the Friday evening.
For further information on Brian please go to his website: www.brianconley.com/Biog/biog.html
He will be supported by another international act which we believe will be a fabulous but absolutely different was to top out the evening. This act will be our secret; however we are convinced that this event will be talked about for months and perhaps years to come. You will have to attend to find out why!
We expect both events like last year’s will be a sell out, whilst a few extra tables have been squeezed in this year we have to comply with the TIC health and safety policies. The Ironbridge suite will be set out to its legal capacity in advance, we will not be able to add any more tables, once they existing tables are booked that will be it.
It is likely that most tables will be sold before the event, to avoid disappointment please do book on line any time after the first week of April.
Both evenings will be under the very able direction of our MC Jed Stone, Jed did a great job last year, he was very complementary to our industry stating that you guys all appeared to be really nice, down to earth genuine people, when we asked him to be MC this year again he jumped at the opportunity.
Look forward to seeing many familiar faces and indeed loads of new ones!
Kind Regards
Frank Mc Allister & Roy Jones
